Homeopathic medicinal product for thyroid disorders.

Areas of application

The areas of application are derived from the homeopathic drug pictures. These include goitre disorders.

Contraindications

Do not take Strumeel® Drops if you are allergic to any of the active substances or any of the other ingredients of this medicinal product.

Do not use in cases of iodine hypersensitivity, hyperthyroidism, for example due to uncontrolled hormone production in thyroid nodules or in autoimmune thyroid disease such as Graves’ disease, or while taking medicines that suppress thyroid function or contain lithium or iodine.

In thyroid disorders, do not use without medical advice.

Precautions for use

Use of this medicinal product in thyroid disorders, including goitre disorders, should not take place without medical advice. It does not replace other medicines prescribed by a doctor for this purpose and must not be taken alongside such medicines.

The maximum daily dose of 10 drops, corresponding to approximately 139 µg iodine, must not be exceeded. Thyroid function should be monitored during use.

Before undergoing a thyroid examination, inform the doctor that you are taking this medicinal product, as test results may otherwise be distorted.

If symptoms worsen, or if persistent, unclear, or new symptoms occur, consult a doctor.

During pregnancy and breastfeeding, use only after consulting a doctor. The iodine content of the maximum daily dose of 10 drops must be taken into account. The recommended dose must not be exceeded, since very high iodide doses during pregnancy and breastfeeding may harm the thyroid of the unborn or newborn child. The iodine content of food supplements should also be considered.

There is insufficient experience for use in children. It should therefore not be used in children under 12 years of age.

This medicinal product contains 40% alcohol by volume. 5 drops contain 79 mg alcohol, equivalent to 9 mg alcohol per 5 drops. This amount is equivalent to less than 3 ml beer or 1 ml wine. The small amount of alcohol in this medicinal product has no noticeable effects.

No effects on the ability to drive or use machines are known. When taken at the recommended dosage, no influence is expected.

Interactions

The effect of a homeopathic medicinal product may be adversely influenced by generally harmful lifestyle factors and by stimulants and luxury foods.

Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken, or intend to take other medicinal products. Also inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking hormones such as thyrotropin (TSH), which may stimulate thyroid function.

Dosage and method of administration

Unless otherwise prescribed, adults and adolescents from 12 years of age should take 5 drops 1 to 2 times daily.

If symptoms improve, the frequency of use should be reduced. 10 drops contain approximately 139 µg iodine.

This medicinal product should be taken with a time interval from meals.

Duration of treatment

As with all medicinal products, homeopathic medicinal products should not be used for prolonged periods without medical advice.

Do not take a double dose if you forget a previous dose. If you have any further questions on the use of this medicinal product, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Side effects

Like all medicinal products, this medicinal product can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Existing hyperthyroidism may be intensified, or hyperthyroidism may develop.

Nausea, gastrointestinal complaints, dizziness, increased blood pressure, or fluctuations in blood glucose may occur. In cases of iodine hypersensitivity, taking Strumeel® Drops may lead to fever, skin rash, itching and burning of the eyes, irritating cough, diarrhea, or headache.

Note: When using a homeopathic medicinal product, existing symptoms may temporarily worsen at first. In this case, stop taking the product and consult your doctor.

Composition

10 g mixture (= 10.5 ml; 1 ml = 20 drops) contains:

• Euspongia officinalis Dil. D2 – 5 g
• Calcium iodatum Dil. D3 – 3 g
• Fucus vesiculosus Dil. D3 – 1 g

Active substances 1 and 3 are potentized together over the last step.

Other ingredients: ethanol 94% (m/m), purified water.

Pharmaceutical form and pack size

Oral drops, solution. Pack size: 30 ml mixture.

Storage

Keep this medicinal product out of the sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date stated on the container and outer packaging. No special storage conditions are required for this medicinal product.
